Awarded at Alumni/ae Council Weekend on September 30,

Bernard A. Helfat—Although you have served
Exeter as both a class agent and class vice president
for decades, your efforts on our behalf have far from
leveled off in recent years. Indeed, thanks to your
outstanding leadership abilities, the class of 1934
achieved its highest ever percent participation in
the Annual Giving Fund during the 2003-04 campaign.
You are known for the individual attention and care
with which you address each member of your class in
your work as class agent, a role you have performed
single-handedly since 2001. Here at Exeter, we have
been touched by the effort you make to attend campus
gatherings for volunteers, even when traveling has
been difficult. Bernie, in recognition of your generous
contribution of time and energy and your steadfast
support for Exeter, we are pleased to present you
with this 2005 President’s Award.
