Daniel R. Bushner—As president of the Exeter
Association of the United Kingdom for the past 13
years, you have helped to create a home away from
home for Exonians in London through one of Exeter’s
most vibrant alumni/ae communities in the world. You
have not only organized and hosted events, but, in
the spirit of non sibi, you have also generously subsidized
attendance for younger graduates, ensuring that all
ages can participate in London’s Exeter community.
You have also welcomed the contingent of Exeter students
and faculty on the Stratford program to your home.
Under your watch, attendance at Exeter London events
has soared. You have also served as an Exeter admissions
representative, interviewing candidates for whom a
campus visit would be impossible or impractical. In
addition, you were instrumental in helping to establish
a vehicle that allows U.K. tax payers to take full
advantage of making gifts to Exeter, thereby addressing
a longstanding obstacle to Exeter philanthropy in
the United Kingdom. In recognition of your fine ambassadorship,
your energy and your generous spirit on Exeter’s
behalf, we present you with this 2005 President’s
Award.
