2005 President's Award Recipient
Citation for Thomas R. Bright
'70
Awarded at Alumni/ae Council Weekend on September 30,
2005
Thomas R. Bright – Boarding school teachers
like to talk about the triple threat of teaching,
coaching and living in the dorm. For more than a few
years, you have been executing a triple threat of
your own, and to great effect. As a member of your
35th reunion committee, class page editor and class
agent, you have lent your talent and your enthusiasm
for Exeter to the important task of bringing Exonians
together on our behalf, and in the process you have
earned the respect and confidence of your classmates
and every Exeter staff member who has ever worked
with you.
Among your successes as an Exeter volunteer have
been mini class reunions in Chicago and in Washington
D.C., an exemplary class website, the naming of the
Gleason Portal in Phillips Church in honor of former
school minister Ted Gleason ’51; ’69,
’70, ’71 (Hon.), and a very successful
35th reunion last May. As a result of your tenacious
energies and your straightforward and honest manner
with classmates, you are known as a key bonding agent
for the class of 1970. In honor of all you do on behalf
of Exeter, we are pleased to present you with this
2005 President’s Award.
