Dulaney Glen '51

Without a doubt, you are the glue that holds the class of 1951 together. As class correspondent for nearly 40 years, you have allowed classmates to share in one another's joys, achievements and sorrows and remain connected to this school that means so much to each of us here.

Your notes in every issue of the Bulletin are copious, generous and witty. Sometimes moving and occasionally tongue-in-cheek, they are always written with an elegance that allows each member of the class of 1951 to feel a vital part of the Exeter family. You exhibit a sincere appreciation for others, a deep sense of what it means to be humble, and an instinctive respect for your fellow Exonians. Your work on the 50th reunion book helped produce a token of remembrance that your classmates will treasure for years to come, while your quiet enthusiasm and generous spirit have undoubtedly helped increase reunion attendance and support of the Academy. Quiet, modest and unassuming—unless, of course, you are playing the piano—you embody the spirit of non sibi.  In honor of all you do on behalf of Exeter, we are proud to present you with this 2007 President's Award.

D. Stephen Lin '87

Your exemplary efforts to bring the Exeter experience to prospective students in Japan has created a long-lasting bridge between the Academy, alumni/ae and future Exonians along the Pacific Rim.

Not only have you provided a warm place in your home for current students and Exeter alumni and alumnae to gather during your tenure as regional association president in Japan, but you've also worked tirelessly to gather support for your alma mater as 15th and 20th Reunion Gift Chair—not an easy task for someone with such a long commute! It is your selfless work as an ambassador for this institution, however, that is most laudable. As admissions representative in Japan, you have personally walked numerous students through the admissions process and created a window through which families challenged by distance can glimpse what it is like to learn around the Harkness Table. This past year you took the initiative to visit several schools in Japan to generate enthusiasm and heightened awareness for Exeter. As a result of your fine efforts, four new students from Japan have matriculated here this fall.

For becoming one of our finest ambassadors and exemplifying the very meaning of what it is to "attract youth from every quarter," we are proud to honor you with this 2007 President's Award.

Brooks Pearson '89

When we think of charismatic, genuine and effective Exonians, the name Brooks H. Pearson comes to mind. You truly are a model volunteer who is worthy of emulation.

Whether organizing a regional gathering, attending a phonathon or interviewing prospective students as an admissions representative, you bring joy, humor and a deep understanding of the Exeter message to all you do. You have organized a calendar of dynamic events that appeal to a broad array of Exonians during your tenure as regional association president for New England. It is clear that each event you touch is personalized and successful. You set a goal to increase attendance at Exeter functions and as a result, the number of alumni/ae who come to planning meetings has grown and participation in Boston area events has increased by more than 30 percent. What a resounding reflection of your dedication and commitment to the Academy! Your reliability and motivational skills are legendary among all who have had the pleasure of working with you.

Brooks, you are a model Exeter ambassador. In recognition of your dedicated drive and generous non sibi spirit, we present you with this 2007 President's Award.
