Alumni/ae, coaches and students celebrate the
Fisher Squash Center
December 2005
A group of more than 50 squash enthusiasts
that included past and present players and coaches
assembled on campus on October 29, 2005, to celebrate
the completed
first phase of the Fisher Squash Center, which
had opened earlier in the year. (Phase two, when
it is funded, will add six more courts.) The
afternoon's events began with a luncheon amid the
new courts followed by remarks from the
Fisher family (Bob '72, Bill '75 and John '79),
former coach Werner Brandes and current
coach Kirk Randall. After lunch, attendees enjoyed
watching
exhibition matches between
Exeter varsity players and professionals from
the University Club
in Boston. Then the fun really began as all who
were interested suited up to play a round robin.
It was a day marked by family participation as
several sets of siblings took to the courts.
Copies of "A
History of Squash at Phillips Exeter Academy" by
Rob Dinerman '72 were
available at the event.
