The Faculty & Staff Endowment Initiative
Goal: $71.0 Million

The Faculty & Staff Endowment Initiative is made up of three components that address Exeter’s need to remain competitive in an increasingly complex hiring market. The largest part of this initiative is dedicated to establishing funds for Endowed Positions and Professional Development. The remainder focuses on building a new child care center and implementing programs recommended by Exeter’s ongoing curriculum review.

Academic Appointments

Distinguished Professorship $2.5 million
Academy Teaching Chair $1.75 million
Instructorship $1.25 million
Faculty and Staff Professional Development Fellowships $500,000

Administrative Appointments
(Professional development funds associated with these positions will support department-specific activities, such as student recruitment for the Dean of Admission, faculty recruitment for the Dean of Faculty, etc.)

Department Chair $2.5 million
Dean of Admission $10 million
Dean of Faculty $10 million
Dean of Students $10 million
The Principalship $25 million

“There are very few excellent organizations in the world,” says Tom Steyer ’75; “Exeter happens to be one of them, and it also happens to stand for a lot of things I like.” Which may explain why Tom, the managing partner of hedge fund Farallon Capital Management and married father of four children, devotes so much of his limited free time to an independent secondary school 3,000 miles away from his home in San Francisco.
