Gene Shen

Gene Shen has been in the financial services
industry for 25 years, initially within the capital
markets and multinational corporate finance units
of Citicorp, and subsequently as a Managing Director
at The Whitney Group, an executive search firm
specializing in financial services. Most recently,
Gene was both the Head of the Global Financial
Services Group and President of AT Kearney Executive
Search. Gene's expertise includes investment banking,
capital markets, derivative & structured products,
private banking, asset management, private equity/venture
capital, and securitization. His work has been
global with a focus on Asian and European clients.
In addition to client management, Gene is responsible
for Options Group to the next stage of its evolution
- providing strategic consulting and human capital
advisory services to the financial services industry
from an extensive global platform. A graduate of
Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, with
dual specializations in Political Science and Modern
Languages, Gene also attended a joint program between
the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and
the Harvard Business and Law Schools, with a focus
on International Finance and Law.
When Gene was at Exeter, he participated in varisty
water polo (as a member of the first team ever),
swimming, and lacrosse. He was also a proctor in
Knight House and a Deacon at Phillips Church. He
has served as President of the New York Alumni/ae
Association, a Vice President in the Alumni/ae
Council and a Trustee of the Academy.
