Andres Martinez '84
Writer, Editor, Senior Fellow at New America Foundation

Andres Martinez '84Andrés Martinez, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation, was editorial page editor of the Los Angeles Times from September 2004 to March 2007. He previously served as an editorial writer and editor at the New York Times, where in 2004 he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for a series of editorials examining the impact of U.S. farm subsidies on the developing world. Martinez has also been a business reporter for the Wall Street Journal and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He is the author of "24/7: Living it Up and Doubling Down in the New Las Vegas" (Villard, 1999).

A recovering lawyer, Martinez has bachelor's and master's degrees in history from Yale and Stanford, respectively, and a law degree from Columbia. He is an avid aficionado of the following (in no particular order): history, Graham Greene, the Pittsburgh Steelers, "Rushmore" (the movie, not the monument), international soccer and really spicy food.
