Portia Chiou, MD '85

Born
and raised on the East Coast, Dr. Portia Chiou
attended Exeter for four years and completed her
schooling at Bryn Mawr College and Medical College
of Pennsylvania. She obtained her surgical training
in a five-year general surgery-plastic surgery
residency at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts.
After residency, Dr. Chiou pursued additional training
in a one-year fellowship focused on breast reconstruction
and microsurgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center in New York. During this fellowship, she
also worked with Park Avenue plastic surgeons in
aesthetic breast and facial surgery.
Dr. Chiou moved to Paris to complete
a second fellowship in aesthetic surgery and craniofacial
surgery. After this unique and compelling time
in France, she returned to the U.S. to open her
private practice in Southern California.
Dr. Chiou is a board certified plastic surgeon
and has integrated the range of her international
educational experiences into her practice. She
serves on the medical staff at several hospitals
in Orange County. She lives in Newport Beach and
remains actively involved with the Exeter Association
of Greater Los Angeles.
